No requirement to obtain a succession certificate under the provisions of Part X (Sections 370 to 390) of the Indian Succession Act, 1925 to receive compensation amount awarded on account of death of the son of the petitioners.

Bare reading of Sections 370 and 374 of the Act makes it clear that a Succession Certificate can be granted in respect of debts and Securities.

The word “security” has been defined in Section 370(2) of the Act which does not include compensation.
